KAKKERLAKJE

The picture book I made the illustrations for, called: 'Lekker in je eigen Kracht,' for the dutch publisher Loopvis, based in Arnhem. In collaboration with comedian Katinka Polderman, I created both the story and illustrations. This charming little book delves into the theme of creative burnout and the journey of rediscovering  your creativity. The narrative unfolds through the adventures of a young witch who has lost all her magical abilities. She goes on journey to re-awaken her creative spirit. It was based on my own experience with a creative burn-out and rediscovering my creativity. The book is made with a fun blend of riso-printed and digital illustrations, making it more colorful and unique. I also wanted to give it a fairtale feeling by adding the borders around the pages. This book is fun for kids but also adults who understand the same feeling.
